Tourists have been coming to Dunsmuir since the late 1880s, when the railroad first started bringing folks from the valley and the Bay Area to resorts along the Sacramento River.
Today, you can still enjoy lodging in moderately priced motel rooms or cabins along the river–all within a short distance of the town’s first-class restaurants. Vacation homes are also available throughout the year.
We invite you to make Dunsmuir your home away from home for great dining and great fishing experiences, for explorations of some of the most spectacular outdoor scenery on the West Coast. But be forewarned: Like many of us who live here now, you may find that what starts out as a weekend getaway turns into a permanent escape to one of the friendliest little towns this side of the Rockies.
