Parks and Recreation
The Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens are located in the Dunsmuir City Park, 4841 Dunsmuir Avenue. Nestled in an Upper Sacramento River canyon near the foot of Mt. Shasta, the Gardens feature displays of woodland plants, bold uses of annual color, an alpine crevice rock garden and conservation areas where unique local flora can be enjoyed.
The mixed evergreen forest of California Black Oak, Douglas Fir, Cedar, and Ponderosa Pine surrounding the Gardens and Park provides a natural environment for the Shasta Lilies, Wild Ginger, False Salmon’s Seal, Starflower and Woodland Pinedrops that grow in the native area of the Gardens. Plant collections include Rhododendron, Azalea, Hosta, Dogwooods and Japanese Maples.
The Dunsmuir botanical Gardens is an incorporated, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and a member of the American Public Gardens Association.
