Description

Big Brother & The Holding Company

The all-volunteer City-wide event, the Dunsmuir Senior Benefit Concert will present an exceptionally fun outdoor late summer concert in balmy Dunsmuir's City Park along the pristine upper Sacramento River. This is a benefit concert for needy seniors left out in the cold in this economy. Ticket sales proceeds will exclusively benefit needy seniors through the Dunsmuir Community Resource Center's programs for needy seniors. Beverage and shuttle service proceeds will benefit all Dunsmuir High School athletic programs, provided by high school staff and students. Beer sales will be provided by the Dunsmuir Rotary Club, featuring popular craft beers including the latest from Dunsmuir Brewery.

Big Brother & The Holding Company - Janis Joplin's Original Band

This park hosts musical events from far and wide — Charlie Musslewhite, John Lee Hooker Jr. and the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra are very recent artists. Others who performed here include Al Stewart, Grammy-nominee Duke Robillard and African dance band Albino. The Park hosts the annual Mossbrae Music Festival named after the many waterfalls in the area including the spectacular Mossbrae Falls that Gov. Schwartzenegger took President G.W. Bush to visit. Babe Ruth played baseball with the locals in this park. And President John Kennedy pronounced Dunsmuir's famous waters as the Best in the World. Visit nearby McCloud River, Castle & Siskiyou Lakes, drive up the Everett Memorial Highway up onto Californias largest mountain, all just a short hop away.

EVENT DETAILS:

Event gates open at 2:30 pm. Bands play at 4, 5 and 61. Food, beer, wine, soda and water will be available so no pets, coolers or picnic baskets are allowed. It is recommended that you bring a blanket to sit on the grass. Sections will be open to your lawn furniture.

Tickets cost $28 pre-sale, locally, and $35 at the gate. For details call 530-235-2177 or purchase online. Concert T-shirts are also being made available at the Chamber office and at the concert. The artists will be selling their CDs. You'll enjoy Tango Tacos' treats and on-site barbecued Tri-Tip from the Brown Trout Café & Gallery.

There will be nice door prizes, one guy and one gal with an outfit best catching the spirit of the 60's, and other entertainment during the show.
