A Message from the Chamber President

The Dunsmuir Chamber of Commerce & Visitor's Center was established in 1949. The Chamber has survived through many difficult yet transforming times. This shows the flexibility and commitment to change when change is needed. In 2003 the Chamber was incorporated in California and received a 501(c)(6) non-profit status with federal and state recognition. Also in 2003, the Chamber logo and slogan were service marked with the State of California. The Chamber is a viable business which exists to assist our members.

The Chamber holds monthly meetings (first Thursday of each month, noon to 1 pm at the River Center), where the Board of Directors (elected yearly) presents concerns, issues and new ideas to the membership. The membership then votes to direct the Board. Your vote really does count! Members have a vote on what the Chamber does, how money is spent, advertising, events, etc. Lunch is available for $6.00.

Currently, the City of Dunsmuir has a matching funds program with the Chamber. For every fully-paid ($100) member, they will match it 100%. Dues are for the calendar year. Money from the City is earmarked for advertising — promotion of members and Dunsmuir. Promoting tourism is of major importance to us all.

The Chamber has several committees and events which you can volunteer for. Your time and energy enhances your commitment to your business and the community.

The Visitor's Center is open four days per week during the fall, winter and early spring, and increases until open seven days a week by summer. Office staff are trained to assist you and visitors to Dunsmuir. The Dunsmuir Gazette, a monthly newsletter, is produced by the Chamber.

The Dunsmuir Visitor Guide, produced through the Chamber, is the major mailing item used to advertise Dunsmuir and Chamber member businesses. The guides are mailed all over the world in response to our website requests. Our website receives over 50,000 hits per year. Your business will be listed and a link to your website is provided.

Joining the Chamber makes good business sense for you and of course, it's good for the Chamber too. I invite you to become a Chamber member.
